Sleep mechanics

Show your audience: According to research average people spend 3/1 of their lives sleeping. For example: A man of sixty has spent 20 years in bed.Moreover, In this classroom whole students average age is 20 so you have already slept 6 and half year in your until today. 4. Establish your credibility: I have read and studied my collection of book about topic, and I have done research in the internet. 5. Preview your main points: First talk about Non-REM sleeping, REM sleeping, and Sleeping cycle. Before talk about stages, we should consider that how scientists identified sleeping stages. In 1930, when scientists learned to place sensitive electrodes on the scalp and record the signals produced by electrical activity in the brain. These brain waves, taken by EGG (electroencephalogram machine), are used by sleep experts to identify the stages of sleep. According that machines record Scientists divide sleep into two major types: 1. rapid eye movement (REM) sleep,

2. non-REM sleep
Surprisingly, they are different from each other as either is from waking. Quiet sleep
In making the transition from wakefulness into light sleep, you spend about five minutes in stage N1 sleep Body temperature begins to drop, muscles relax, and eyes often move slowly. People in stage N1 sleep lose awareness of their surroundings, but they are easily jarred awake.

After a little while, you enter stage number 2 which lasts 10 to 25 minutes. Your eyes are still move, and your heart rate and breathing are slower than when awake. You spend about half the night in stage N2 sleep.

Then you transfer 3rd sleep which, known as deep sleep or slow-wave sleep. During this stage, breathing becomes more regular. The brain becomes less responsive to external stimuli, making it difficult to wake the sleeper. Slow-wave sleep seems to be a time for your body to renew and repair itself.

Second major type of sleep is REM sleep
Your brain races, thinking and dreaming, as your eyes dart back. Your body temperature rises,blood pressure increases, and your heart rate and breathing speed up to daytime levels. Dreaming occurs during REM sleep, which has been described as an “active brain in a paralyzed body.” Dream can occur in all stages but the most memorable dreams occur in Rem sleep. These Four stages generally called one sleep cycle and this cycle repeats itself between 4 and 6 times per night.

In conclusion, today first we talked about sleeping stages, such as REM and Non REM stages of sleep, and finally briefly talked about sleeping cycle.
